The Stamp Act was placed in 1764 by Parliament.  The Stamp Act stated that anything that had a stamp on it showed that the colonists had payed the tax.  The colonists didn't have a part in making this law.  They really wanted representation in England so they could have a voice in government.  James Otis was the person who made the famous saying "no taxation without representation". 

 

 

 

The Sons of Liberty are a group of people who protested against the Parliment.

 

 

 

 

 

The Boston Massacure started in March 5,1770. In this event 5 colonists were killed by British soldiers. Crispis Attucks was the first person that was killed. The way it started was 2 people threw rock snowballs at a British soldier. The next thing that happened was a group of soldiers came and shot. The Sugar Act was passed in 1764. The law stated that any goods coming from a different country had a tax on the good. The law was passed by the British Parliament. The colonists were angered by this law but what bothered the colonists the most was that they had  no representation. Some events leading to the Revolution are The Boston Massacre, The Boston Tea Party, The Stamp Act, and The Sugar Act.                 By Ryan R. and Holden

     Did you know that colonist David Bushnell invented the first submarine used in warfare?  He called his submarine the Turtle.  Bushnell pedaled up to a British war ship in New York Harbor and tried to drill a hole in the side.  His plan was to drop explosives in the hole and blow up the British ship! 

     Alas, his plan failed, because he was unable to drill through the metal lining.  However, the British were so fearful that he might succeed that they moved their fleet.  For more information about this American inventor click on the link above.
